The Standard Translation

then compares with the painting “The Temple of Eternity” as the pictures of the magnificent early medieval cathedral of Tournai in Belgium compare with it.
The austerity, the clear outlines and the depth are almost puritanic in character.

The standard translation encompasses the entire Hortus Conclusus, all 32 books and booklets. All the books in verse are available. The verses are of great beauty and are highly autobiographic, enlightening us on the spiritual ancestry of BÔ YIN RÂ .

The standard translation offers the German original text alongside the English translation so that the translation can be compared with and checked against the German original at any moment. In this way the standard translation makes itself constantly accountable for its correctness as well as for its inevitable flaws.(PDF version)

The translation technique has been effectuated by a professional translator, recommended by the German cultural council, the Goethe Institut, in London. This translator is a PhD in the German language and teaches in a private school south of London.
Every word of the original has been accounted for in the translation: translating is a professional skill, subject to stringent rules and with its own methodology.

To the person responsible for the translation, who is answerable for the correctness of the sense and of the meaning of the texts is applicable what now follows, taken from the book The Secret, pdf pages 198-200.

Immediately a new goal will show itself to you. You will see that it requires from you only that you seek to make effective for others what has brought you so far. You are not required to show foolish eagerness here in converting anyone who crosses your path to that which has led
you to your own self-assuredness. What is required is that you put yourself in the service of the same work which brought you your first liberation and that you seek to be similarly effective through your example.–
This fourth goal on the way confirms its attainment through the conscious peace of conscience which indicates to you that you have been able to achieve it – not through talk and disputation – but through life, deed and action!

Soon enough you will see your fifth goal on the path before you. This requires of you to establish yourself as creator!
You will have somehow to get involved productively in the life of your surroundings, not by, for example, attempting to eradicate abuses, but by seeking to establish something effective, in the sense of the knowledge
you have already acquired, in your surroundings. – – –
If afterwards the certain clear conscience ensues that you have already experienced with certainty many times before, it will, now bound to new consciousness, give witness of itself in you. This is the sixth goal on the path, the sixth stage of your path which is to lead you in the seventh stage to union with your spiritual origin!–––

All these frills guide the reader merely along the lines of the comprehension of the translator instead of providing a clear and clean translation of BÔ YIN RÂ for the reader to base himself on.
